Project Summary
The Collaborative Acute Aortic Syndrome Project (CAASP) is a multi-centre service evaluation project to understand current acute aortic syndrome (AAS) pathways. The main objective of this study is to outline the current national and international diagnostic and management pathways for AAS, and inform and facilitate improvements in clinical practice.

Study design

Retrospective Multicentre Cohort

Study participants

 Patients with acute aortic syndrome imaging diagnosis

Primary objective

Time from symptom onset to hospital admission/ imaging diagnosis/ management and 30 day/ 6 month mortality rate

Inclusion criteria 

All acute aortic syndrome (AAS) diagnoses. Acute Type A or Type B aortic dissection, or penetrating aortic ulcer or intramural haematoma

Exclusion criteria 

Traumatic or iatrogenic aortic injury, chronic AAS pathology
